Nick became a powersport enthusiast at the age of  8 when his friend introduced him to the world of riding go-karts, 3-wheelers and dirtbikes. He instantly became hooked to the sight, sound and smell of off-road toys made for fun. There was no other feeling like holding the throttle open and gripping a set of handlebars.

6 years later Nick finally won his parents over and became a motorcycle owner. It wasn't long after that he began learning how to service, repair and maintain his rides. A motor mount failure on his CBR600 during his Junior year of high school sparked an interest in becoming a motorcycle technician."The upper motor mounts were a part of the cylinder head, both were broken and the engine was sitting crooked in the frame, my Dad determined the bike was unsafe to ride. After learning the cylinder head was almost $1000 before labor I decided to remove the engine and took it to a welding shop where they refabricated the motor mounts. I remember looking at the bike in pieces thinking how am I ever going to get this back together?! When I fired that bike back up I knew that I wanted to be a motorcycle technician."

In 2004 Nick enrolled in the Motorcycle Technology program at Iowa Lakes Community College and graduated in 2005. "As a motorcycle tech you have 2 main options for employment: work in someone else's shop or start your own shop. Starting my own shop was always my goal from the beginning, but I knew I needed experience in both the dealership and independent shops first. I have been very fortunate throughout my career to work for some great employers."

Between 2005 and 2016 Nick gained experience at dealerships and independent shops working on motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, watercraft and snowmobiles between over a dozen different manufacturers and hundreds of different models. Towards the end of 2016 Nick started writing his business plan and opened Edwards Cycle Works in April of 2017. "I'm proud of the fact that I was able to achieve my career goal, I'm also very grateful for all of the work experience, mentors, employers and everyone that has helped and encouraged me along the way. My passion for this industry and love for my family has been my biggest motivation, and has led me to where I am today."
